The most sustainable underground storage system for stormwater on the market today.
Today’s Solutions
-
Concrete Soakwells
Cumbersome to install and inefficient use of available volume.
-
Plastic Crate Systems
Require use of a geotextile fabric in order to prevent the ingress of soil and sand.
-
Plastic Arch Systems
Requires stone backfill for structural support and geotextile fabric in order to prevent the ingress of soil and sand.
Today’s underground storage solutions are repurposed products with compromises and shortcomings. Tunnelwell® was designed as a response to these compromises and shortcomings as a fit-for-purpose solution that is easy to install, efficient, low-maintenance and long-lasting.
The Tunnelwell® Difference
When you build something, you want it to last.
Every manufacturer of stormwater infiltration guarantees their product for 50 (material guarantee only) years, but not the performance life of the infiltration system. Geotextile fabric based systems are notorious for clogging up and with maintenance required every 10-15 years.
A Tunnelwell system is the only system you will need for the next 50 years.
It’s ‘Simplicity for Stormwater’
Benefits of Tunnelwell
In areas where the water table is high, groundwater mounding using Tunnelwell is 30% lower than soakwells, so less site fill is required.
Less Site Sand Fill
Over time geotextile fabrics become clogged with silt and fines, affecting performance and requiring maintenance. Tunnelwell® doesn’t need geotextile fabric and therefore does not suffer this problem.
Less Maintenance
Because of Tunnelwell’s unique and patented design, louvres on the side of the arch allow inflitration of more stormwater than other systems that just rely on infiltration through the base.
Tunnelwell® inflitrates 25% more stormwater than any other competitive system which means you need 25% less volume of storage.
Less Storage
Because Tunnelwell® is designed to be self supporting, it does not need crushed rock backfill to provide structural support.
Systems that require crushed rock backfill require 40% more of the excavated material to be removed from site and the same amount of crushed rock backfill to storage volume purchased and brought to site.
Less Material
What People Are Saying
“The design of the Tunnelwell arch system negates a lot of the design issues designers face today with other product lines which use geotextile cloths and support stone/gravels which may be problematic over time.”
— Jim Davies, JDA Hydraulic Consultants
“Tunnelwell is our preferred infiltration system on our projects by way of designing and recommending that product line. Tunnelwell’s design allows for greater infiltration to soil than other product lines, is easily maintained and it can also infiltrate more water to the soil due to clever design attributes.”
— Helen Brookes, Urbaqua
“After the initial familiarisation with the Tunnelwell product, the installation process gets easier and easier.
Excavate, compact, screed & lay - no cloth, no stone, no fuss.”
